Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a Garden on high, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
