Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
