Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in an exalted garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
