Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
