WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 towards thee on the right hand and on the left hand in knots? 37 Does every one of them hope to enter [by this means] a garden of bliss? 38 By no means! They know that which We have created them from. 39 But nay! I call to witness the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We have the power 40 To replace them by others better than they; and We are not to be outrun. 41 So leave them to engage in vain talk and to amuse themselves until they come face to face with the Day which they are promised, 42 the Day when they rush out of their graves as if racing towards a signpost, 43 Downcast shall be their looks; abjectness shall overspread them. Such is the Day which they are promised. 44
