The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old: 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 They do not believe in it even though the practice of the ancients has already gone. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15
