Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
