In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
