20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
