The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
