The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
