The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 arise, and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And children present [with him] 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
