Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 Warn the men. 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
