I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
