Nay, by the Moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 a warning to humans, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
