Nay, by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except those of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the guilty: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
