Nay, by the Moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
