By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
