Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mortals, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
