No! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning for people -- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the guilty ones: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
