Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
