Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
