Nay! By the moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until death approached us". 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
