Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
