Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
