O ye messengers! enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 These hasten to good things and they are foremost in (attaining) them. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 “Priding yourself in serving the Sacred Mosque; at night you utter indecent stories in it, while discarding the truth.” 67 Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
