The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
