The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
