The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
