The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
