The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
