The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
