The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
