The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
