The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
