The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
