The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
