The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
