The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
