The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
