In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
