The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
