The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
