The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
