The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
