The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
