The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
