The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 you pay attention 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
