The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
