He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
